High-level roundtable on DRM: ATI heads to Washington ahead of FFD4

ATI and partners will present and foster open dialogue on the upcoming Seville Declaration on DRM at a high-level roundtable in Washington D.C.

The Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) goes to Washington D.C.!

As the global community prepares for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) in July, the ATI and its partners are gathering in Washington D.C. for a high-level roundtable to spotlight Domestic Revenue Mobilisation (DRM) as a key component of sustainable finance.

The event, “Addis to Seville: The New Declaration on DRM”, takes place alongside the 2025 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. It will introduce and encourage open dialogue on the upcoming ATI Seville Declaration on DRM.

The new ATI Declaration is intended to guide action on DRM in line with the proposed outcomes of FFD4. It reflects ATI members’ renewed pledge to scaling up DRM efforts that strengthen tax systems in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The roundtable in Washington D.C. will bring together high-level representatives from ministries of finance, revenue authorities, and diplomatic missions involved in development finance, offering a platform to reaffirm collective support for DRM as a key strategy to fund sustainable development in light of the new ATI Seville Declaration on DRM.

This year’s FFD4 in Spain will mark a decade since governments committed to step up collective DRM efforts in Addis Ababa during FFD3, founding the ATI. With five years remaining to achieve the 2030 Agenda, effective and progressive tax systems are now more crucial than ever to expand fiscal space, reduce inequality, support climate action, and build trust between governments and citizens.

Now is the time to talk about DRM.

The new Seville Declaration on DRM has been developed by a dedicated Task Force with representatives from each of the three ATI stakeholder groups in consultation with all ATI members. The new Declaration will be presented at a side-event during the FFD4 in Seville.

Since its inception in 2015, the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) has been a steady driver of political momentum for DRM and a firm advocate for the implementation of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda through enhanced tax systems.
