2020 ATI General Assembly

Programme & report

Background

Five years have passed since the launch of the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) in 2015. Over this time period, the ATI has evolved into an increasingly important player in the field of tax and development. The annual ATI General Assembly provided a valuable opportunity to renew momentum regarding the ATI’s contribution towards financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the ATI Declaration 2025 was presented to ATI members. The new declaration reaffirms the strong political commitment to implement the Addis Ababa Action Agenda for Financing for Development (AAAA) with special emphasis on actions that improve domestic revenue mobilisation (DRM). In addition, the 2020 ATI General Assembly saw the presentation of the 2018 ATI Monitoring Report, the launch of the online ATI matchmaking platform and the get-together of the new composition of ATI Consultative Groups, in line with the ATI post-2020 commitments.

Organisation and registration

The event was organised and facilitated by the International Tax Compact (ITC) in its function as Secretariat of the ATI and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

All sessions were held via Microsoft Teams, a video conferencing tool that ensures high-quality privacy and security standards. All sessions were held in English, with individual inputs by francophone ATI member countries. Simultaneous interpretation English-French was provided on the first day of the 2020 ATI General Assembly.
