Overview

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) endorses the commitments of the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) and has joined the ranks of the ATI´s supporting organisations in July 2021.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) is a private foundation working to reduce poverty and improve healthcare across the world. It funds work in 134 countries in areas included but not limited to gender equality, global health, economic growth, and partnerships building.

In the fiscal domain, the Development Policy and Finance team is endeavoured to advancing human development and alleviating extreme poverty by influencing global policy, advancing financial innovation, providing strategic advisory services, and engaging in high-impact partnership. The promotion of domestic revenue mobilisation (DRM) and the support of public financial management are important work areas of the foundation at the country-level.

The BMGF was a member of the ATI Consultative Group 2 in the years 2018 and 2019 and contributed to the assessment of 11 indicators to monitor the progress of the ATI partner countries in fulfilment of the ATI Commitment 2 of the ATI Declaration 2015.
