Australia-Republic of Marshall Islands Partnership for Development: Tax reform

The Australia-Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI) partnership for Development was agreed to and signed on 4 August 2010. The priority outcomes of the partnership are to: increased accessibility to affordable and sustainable energy; tax reform; and increased access to water and sanitation. The program supports multiple activities that help the Government of RMI to achieve the priority outcomes through: provision of technical assistance; provision of sectoral specialist volunteers; accountable cash grant for software upgrade on the billing and accounting system; funding for an Asian Development Bank Program Preparatory Technical Assistance to undertake design work; and funding for an audit of the catchment tanks provided to households. The total value of this initiative is $3.9 million over 6 years, starting 2010-11.
