Ecuador joins the Addis Tax Initiative

The Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) is pleased to welcome Ecuador into its membership, making the country the initiative’s newest member and latest partner country. Having Ecuador on board turns the ATI into a multi-stakeholder partnership that now comprises 28 partner countries, 20 development partners, and 20 supporting organisations, united by the vision of tax systems that work for the people and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Ecuador’s commitment to improve DRM and strengthen its tax system could be further reflected in the recent launch of an innovated tax administrations strategy. The strategy aims to improve tax compliance, broaden the taxpayer base, and deepen the digitalisation of the organisation. The plan will tackle particularly invoice digitalisation and reduction of informality through communication campaigns on the benefits of becoming formal taxpayers. Joining the ATI provides the country the space to share experience on this and other tax issues within the ATI network, and to improve its technical and financial international support in the area of DRM.

The ATI is pleased to welcome Ecuador as the second country from the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region to join the partnership as it continues its pursuit of reaching out to more countries in the region. The inclusion of the LAC perspective within the ATI will strengthen the global framework of the discussions and knowledge exchange within the initiative.
