8th World Bank/ODI Global/IFS Public Finance Conference
The 8th World Bank/ODI Global/IFS Public Finance Conference will be held in Washington DC on September 24–25, 2026.
The annual conference brings together policymakers, tax and revenue officials, researchers, development practitioners and other public finance specialists to discuss frontier research and its implications for policy, with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries.
This year’s programme covers topics including tax compliance and administration, economic transformation, social protection, government effectiveness, behavioural responses to taxes and subsidies, corporate taxation, VAT and AI in public finance.
The conference will also feature a keynote address by Nathaniel Hendren, Ford Professor of Economics at MIT, on Measuring the Welfare Impacts of Government Policies.
The conference will run from 9:00 AM on Thursday 24 September to 1:15 PM on Friday 25 September 2026 (Washington DC time). It will be available for online participation, but please note that in-person registration closes this Thursday 17 September.
