6th Meeting of the Community of Practice on Tax Expenditures

The Addis Tax Initiative (ATI), together with the Council on Economic Policies (CEP) and the German Institute for Development and Sustainability (IDOS), conducted a series of regional workshops on tax expenditures (TEs) from 2022 to 2024. These workshops brought together finance ministries, revenue authorities, and parliamentarians to strengthen capacity, share knowledge, and build regional networks of TE experts.

Building on this momentum, a Community of Practice (CoP) has been launched as a joint initiative by the ATI and the Tax Expenditures Lab to provide an ongoing platform for participants and other stakeholders. The CoP aims to foster continuous exchange on TE estimation, evaluation, reporting, and reform, leveraging collective expertise to advance more effective TE governance across institutions.

The sixth virtual meeting of the Community of Practice on Tax Expenditures will feature insights into the development and application of the benchmark taxation system (BTS) from both partner countries and development partners. The BTS is a key pillar within the TE policy cycle and the basis upon which governments define their TEs.
