Malawi Revenue Administration Project Project Purpose The purpose of the project is to provide CD to the government of Malawi to strengthen management of revenue administration governance arrangements and core functions of tax administration. Expected Results The project will contribute to significant improvements in the effectiveness of the MRA¿s tax administration in two broad areas 1. Building on the TADAT assessment a medium term reform strategy (a revised strategic plan) will be designed to improve and modernize the MRA and help increase revenue performance. The strategy will build on the current Strategic Plan and incorporate the findings of the TADAT assessment and the FAD March 2018 mission. It will also build upon the foundational reforms that have already been set in train and are supported by the AFRITAC East and other partners in Malawi. 2. Tax administration core processes will be further strengthened. Achieving the government¿s revenue collection expectations will require substantially higher levels of taxpayer compliance. Improvement of core processes is a prerequisite to supporting voluntary and enforced compliance. In this regard compliance programs and action plans described above are dependent on the effectiveness of the core processes.
