Diakonia has applied to Sida for SEK 65.7 million to implement a program to improve domestic resource mobilization in Africa 2018-2021. Diakonia and its regional partners – AFRODAD, Tax Justice Network Africa and Transparency International Kenya, and possibly two or three more organizations – will convince the regional parliaments of East Africa, West Africa and South Africa to work for1.1.Reduced tax competition in line with the Africa Tax Administration Forums Agreement on Mutual Assistance in Tax Matters1.2.Reduced illegal money flows by specifying the recommendations in the African Union s Report of the High Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa2.Improved management of public debt in line with the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI) Regional Protocol on Finance and Investment (MEFMI is a former Sida partner)3.Increased openness in mining, etc. through the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and the African Mining VisionThe program will also4.Strengthen the capacity of the regional partners (i.e., AFRODAD, Tax Justice Network Africa and Transparency International Kenya, and two or three more organizations).
