The Regional Public Financial Management initiative, provided through the Australian Department of Finance and Deregulation, aims to improve public financial management legislation, policies, systems and processes in Pacific Island countries. Funding will support: strategic development training for up to 20 senior finance managers; PEFA assessments and roadmaps for public financial management improvements; technical input to regional public finance management education and training through the University of the South Pacific; support for a major public finance management project in a selected Pacific Island country each year; engagement and networking of senior finance officials as part of the Pacific Island Financial Managers Associations; and support for the 'Canberra Group' meeting which is a forum to support the dissemination of public finance management development assistance information, expertise and experience. The total value of this initiative is $3.9 million over 4 years, starting 2012-13.
